Welcome to the small animal rescue page.

This will be an ever growing list of some of the best rescues to adopt from within the UK. While there are rat focused rescues out there and indeed on this list. The Number isn’t huge so I’ve decided to list as many rescues as possible here that either currently have rats, have had rats for adoption recently or list rats as animals they do rescue.

These are not personal recommendations they are suggestions from many different sources across social media so always feel free to do further research on the source if needed.

I want to mention that I have not listed individual groups in the list below of huge rescue organisations such as The RSPCA, The SSPCA or The Blue Cross as there are too many to list but the chances of these rescues having rats in for adoption are pretty high so it is always worth checking out those local to you.

Rat Rescue Network UK

Before we get onto the list of rescues and as this is a rat focused website I would like to point you in the direction of one of the best sources on social media if you want to acquire rescue rats and that is Rat Rescue Network UK Facebook Page

Rat Rescue Network UK is a very active page on facebook where people can either seek to rehome there rats they can no longer take care of, share rats they have seen in rescue centres or adoption sections at certain pet stores, or people who want to adopt can go looking for new additions to there mischief. The group is very ethics focused so there are certain rules to follow which are all for the benefits or rats being put up for potential new homes which I am a big fan of. This would be the first place I would visit if I was looking to adopt some rats.

Pet Rat Rehoming UK

This is a new group that came from the dedicated Thread for beans needing a new family page on the Rats UK: Help, don’t criticise Facebook Page. This is quite an active group and there was lots of activity on this thread so the team have decided to launch a dedicated rescue group. Naming it Pet Rat Rehoming UK this page is a place for rehoming and adopting rats as well as a hub for the admin team to keep everybody updated on any rescues currently being worked on and news of them travelling to their new homes. Anyone is free to join and keep an eye out for any oppourtunities to help out if you can.

South West UK Rat Rescues

Also if you are in the south west of England there is the South West UK Rat Rescues Facebook Group where you can find lots of rats looking for new homes too. This is an active group that welcomes anyone but focuses mainly on the areas around the south west of the country. Remember however rats are fantastic travellers so don’t let it discourage joining no matter where you are you can still help make a difference so make sure to give them a follow.
